16th Annual Vans Warped Tour - Pomona Fairplex - Pomona, CA 08/10
By Jeffrey Easton
It was WARPED Tour time again and I was pumped. This was one of the best I have seen so far with the line ups beings so good it was impossible to miss. The economy be damned, kids were lined up a mile deep by the time the doors were opened because this is THEIR tour and they know it. The metal bands were in serious contest: iwresteledabearonce and Suicide Silence against the notorious rock action of Every Time I Die and Closure In Moscow, nonstop Rock in the August heat of Pomona. Many great bands filled this Line Up like the Deadly beauty and power of Eyes Set To Kill to the mainstream attitude of the After Midnight Project with classic bands like Everclear, Longway, Dropkick Murphys and Agent Orange. The set up was a little different as there was only one main stage but each one of the smaller stages, like Altec Lansing Stage, Kia/Kevin Says,AP/Advent as well as the ever present Punk Rock Legends Stage were teaming with incredible talent all day as you can tell by the handful of bands I have mentioned. And Warped Stayed diverse as ever with bands as far ranging as Pierce The Veil to The Dillinger Escape Plan to Mayday Parade. You cannot be a music fan and say that there was not something for you to go see and like me, discover a band that you were blown away by. This year Closure In Moscow was the surprise band that stood out and I have to say their stage presence, especially that of singer Chris deCinque, odd guy to say the least. The Fabulous Rudies were the most interesting because the singer, Tom Voris, has his daughter fronting the band now and it made for a different sound. All in all the tour and this date were incredible so now the wait is on for Warped 2011 and its 17th year.
