The Damned - A Night Of A Thousand Vampires – Earmusic
By Jeffrey Easton
As we descend into the winter months, the soundtrack to your darkest hours has finally found its way to your ears. Punk legends The Damned, who seem to know no limits, have dropped possibly the defining live album of their career with A Night Of A Thousand Vampires. This career spanning live album knows no boundaries when culling the catalog but leaning towards the darker end of their writing considering this was a Halloween show. Whether it was Standing on The Edge Of Tomorrow from the excellent Evil Spirits album or the haunting Grimly Fiendish originating from one of my favorites, Phantasmagoria, they kept their fans bleeding for more. Not forgetting the old School, Neat Neat Neat, The Dog is in the set as well as the grimly covered People Are Strange. After a somber, grainy black and white intro featuring the fans dressed in their ghoulish best, the show raged through the massive set which did include The Circus Of Horrors entertaining the fans as the band lit the stage up. This is a must for you to have, the love album and the DVD for the amazing visuals. This release shows that bands can still deliver the goods live and keep someone riveted to the stage, well done!
