Aftershock 2022:  Sacramento Gets Invaded

Aftershock 2022 is set to be the biggest to date yet with four days of nonstop bands shaking the grounds of Sacramento.  For those who brave the four days, you are going to witness the history of hard rock and metal unfold right before you.

The bands that others point to as inspiration for wanting to strap on a guitar in the first place, the likes of KISS and Judas Priest, are headlining.  KISS are on their farewell so this is it and their history is monumental, me personally playing their records as a kid and putting on the makeup.  These bands mean so much to so many and to see them on our grounds will not go unnoticed.

The punk scene is repped well with the inclusion of Bad Religion, one of the most important bands in punk to this day.  Their influence on a whole scene only rivals maybe the Ramones but their political voice rings massively loud and astute.

Punk/hardcore vets Thursday make a welcome appearance as their albums made a lasting impression on those that heard them.
The Warped tour scene is revived heavily here with the titans My Chemical Romance.  Talk About helping create a scene, MCR almost single handedly launched a lifestyle and they are joined by their contemporaries Crown the Empire, Thrice, Underoath and A Day to Remember amongs others.

There is so much going down with Aftershock 2022 and it does get darker and heavier with Rob Zombie lurking the main stage, Ice Nine Kills and their insane brand of horror metal, Lamb Of God absolutely destroying any pit they get near and the kings, Slipknot, taking their throne on opening night.  No matter your thoughts on Slipknot, I have seen very few bands over the last few decades deliver a show like they do.

Radio is a huge influence on fans and has been for years and that is not lost on Aftershock and never has been.  Radio giants Chevelle, Halestorm, Shinedown and Evanescence to name a few all combine for hundreds of thousands of spins and will have a lot of beer raised in their direction.

Along with the names, the bands that influenced, there are a host of bands that are still coming up, still making a name and I feel you should check them out.   New Years Day, Dirty Honey, Lilith Czar, The Struts and still breaking the USA via Japan, Crossfaith. Dirty Honey Are one of the better young bands on the bill and you need to keep your eyes on them.

Aftershock 2022 is not going to be forgotten, mark those words.
