Walk The Moon – Harlows, Sacramento, CA 11/12

By Jeffrey Easton

Indie rock has the poster child for 2012 and that is Walk The Moon.  This band has seemingly come out of nowhere to take the scene over and give rock a kick in the ass with their massively great S/T RCA Records debut.  They are not some overnight success, they already have a few self-released albums under their belt and have fought in the trenches for a while, paying their dues and building that loyal following every band needs.  That led them to Harlows in Sacramento for a sold out performance in front of their most diehard fans.  They opened the show with The Liftaway and the crowd ignited..    Nicholas Petricca is an amazing front man and he brought the crowd into his world with is infectious vocals and catchier than a cold songs that he brought forth from the band.  Shiver Shiver, from the new S/T, had everybody singing at the top of their lungs as well as the commanding Lisa baby and Iscariot.  The amazing first single, Anna Sun, closed out the main set with the crowd singing louder than the band it seems, yes, this band is that powerful.  To me, Anna Sun is the rock song of the year, just impossible to top.  WTM also debuted  a new song entitled Young Shoes which if it’s any indication of where they are going for their next record they will be bigger than ever, period. They did encore for the rabid fans and they did it right by giving them the hard driving and inspirational I Can Lift A Car.  This left the crowd drained, covered in sweat but with that feeling they had just been blown away by their favorite band.   If you have not yet had a chance to discover Walk The Moon you owe it to yourself as you are sorely missing out.
