Six Minute Century – Wasting Time – Nightmare Records

By Jeffrey Easton

Finally, a weak band got their album title and record label right as it was a nightmare to get through this album and I was really wasting time listening to this.  I have no problem, well, not much of a problem, with power metal but when it is as tired as this is with over used riffs and a singer that is ripping off John Arch left and right, then I have to call foul.   This is a new release with 12 very old sounding tracks.  The song ideas are very tired, used again and again as if the band could not find an original idea to save its life.  Chuck Williams, if you read this, stop trying to sound like Arch, there is only one John Arch and you are not him and it grates my nerves to hear such a prolific singer ripped in such a way. This is their second CD, the debut appearing in 2008 and I wonder, did it really take you this long to come up with 12 weak song ideas?  On top of this, the album sounds very tinny and in this day and age of pro tools and slick production, there is zero reason for this.  Go back and try something new and when I say something new, I mean something you came up with, not a dozen other power metal bands before you.
