Scott Stapp – Proof Of Life – Wind Up

By Jeffrey Easton

After the successful release of Creed’s Full Circle and a massive tour Scott Stapp still had those creative urges that led him to this massive solo release and it was worth the wait for the diehard fans of Stapp’s one of a kind vocals.  Proof Of Life drops right into place for Scott’s legacy and shows he can still be a force of nature outside of Creed’s domain.   Proof Of Life shows massive life out of the gate with the full throttle opening cut Slow Suicide, possibly the best vocal he has yet to deliver as he shows unyielding power in his commitment to the lyrics. As you go through the album you become aware that this is Scott baring his soul to you whether he is pleading his case with Who I Am or laying his life open with the title track.  You know that even though he has had past transgressions he has come to realize who he really is and is a changed person and that is perfectly evident in the cleansing track New Day Coming.  His demons are personified in the darkened tracks Break Out and Hit Me More, two deeply personal tracks that takes you to the heart of what he went through so you can only appreciate his return.  That return could only happen once he realized who he was which is chronicled with the massive Dying to Live.  Are you ready to take that roller coaster ride with Mark through his demons and reawakening? If so, you are ready for Proof Of Life, the deepest record to have the name Scott Stapp on it.
