Jimmy Barnes – Hindsight – Mascot

By Jeffrey Easton

Not to many performers these days will see the career lifespan that Jimmy Barnes has had and that is why we are celebrating it.  Jimmy has been at it for decades producing his trademark Australian bred hard rock and to say he has influenced a legion of followers is an understatement.  This collection, Hindsight, celebrates a solo career that has spanned over 30 years now and it features his better solo cuts reworked with some great friends of his and they sound as if they were created yesterday.   It’s easy just to go back and redo songs but as he stated, he wanted to give them a fresh coat of paint and why not, punch them up, invite some friends to give them a new character and that is what he did.  Tracks like Time Will Tell featuring The Baby Animals sounds even more dangerous today and Going Down Alone star Journey’s own Neal  Schon and Jonathan Cain and Neal’s guitar just flies.  Joe Bonamassa, one of the world’s foremost guitar heroes sits in on Stone Cold and Ride The Night Away stars Steven Van Zandt and trust me these tracks are just enormous.  If you have been a fan of Jimmy and you own his works you still need this because your eyes will be reopened to his catalog.
