Garden Music Project – Inspired by Syd Barrett's Artwork – AR Garden
By Jeffrey Easton
The Syd Barrett days of Pink Floyd will always stand out as some of the most creative ever as he was always on another plane of existence. The first two albums will never be replicated by anybody but Syd being Syd he never stopped creating after he left Floyd and this is where Garden Music Project comes in. Inspired by Syd’s creative soul, Garden Music Project has created sonic tapestry that transports you back to a time when music was free to be creative. Four amazing musicians take you deep into a state of psychosis of what could have easily been a late 60’s early 70’s Pink Floyd album while they immerse you into what they mentally gathered from the works of Syd Barrett. If you miss the days of pure Psyche then this is highly recommended as it feels as though it was not recorded a day past 1969. The tracks seamlessly bounce off of each other while never repeating themselves as the sonics of Garden meander into Squares Lines And Polygons and the trippy Isolation. Leaving Home, Crime Scene and Coliseum continue to take you down the psych fueled maddening road into a delusional state of madness that ends with Self Portrait with its stunning guitar work and production that takes the sound and swirls around your cranium as it lulls you into a state of disbelief. Who knows where Pink Floyd could have gone with Syd in the band if he could have kept it together but I do know what he has inspired regardless and this is one of the best works to come from what Syd provided.
