_ Opeth – Lamentations Reissue – The End

By Jeffrey Easton

Opeth are the premier band no matter the genre but this gig at Sheperd’s Bush Empire in 2003 is possibly the standout in their career. After releasing the genre bending fraternal twin albums Deliverance and Damnation they took to the road and subsequently filmed this historic gig and the rest is history.  Now almost ten years after releasing this historic DVD The End has repackaged it as a three disc set and as brilliant as ever.  The live discs, two of em, sound as if you were there in the seats experiencing it in person, the sound is flawless.  The DVD, considering I have a much better TV now than I did then, looks crisper and more fulfilling than before.  In my review of the DVD back then I said this is possibly the best shot concert film to date and I still stand by that to this day, it is such an amazing visual image.  The band carefully plows through Damnation in its entirety along with massive parts of Deliverance and the stellar Blackwater Park.  The band went out of their way to make this memorial and they did it right.  Hopefully this time around it will be a massive success so to you Opeth fans who revere the band, go buy this…

BUY Lamentations!!!
