Hatebreed – The Divinity Of Purpose – Razor & Tie
By Jeffrey Easton
Hatebreed have solidly put their aggressive stamp on metal for 2013 and they did it loudly with their new release, Divinity Of Purpose. This album should have been titled “Anthems From The Pit” because each one of these tracks serves a purpose to arouse the public and I can hear the words being sung back to the band as their fans tear up the concert floor. Hatebreed have always been about the loud aggressive riff and the booming vocal delivery but with Purpose they have amped it up ten notches because they have come to kick your ass with unmistakable passion. Put It to The Torch opens this record with a blow to the stomach and the band does not look back. Jamey sings as if it will be his last words as the pummeling guitars back his every syllable. Honor Never Dies, Own Your World, The Language, all come at you with renewed vigor and the stunning metal riffs that greet you with Dead Man Breathing will blow your mind as if you have never heard Hatebreed before. Idolized And Vilified are perfect words for the way some people see Hatebreed and Indivisible should be the mantra for the Hatebreed Nation. When you are done grinding through Divinity Of Purpose you should be suffering from whiplash if not you listened to the wrong record.
