Running Wild – Shadowmaker – Steamhammer

This is what one of the main things that is wrong with metal today. These over the hill bands that make a comeback for one last gasp for glory only to find out there is nothing left in the tank. Running Wild is one such band and one of the main bands that should have stayed gone. Remember the monumental albums like Port Royal and Death Or Glory? This is neither of those and not even Black Hand Inn.. The swagger is long gone and there is not an ounce of power in the riffs, it’s just a dead weight dragging through each song. It seems that this just a cash in to go out and tour again and make some cash off of merch while shorting the fans on the legacy that was Running Wild. I was anticipating this release but was crushed upon hearing it as I was a devout fan of the band. Listen, if you no longer have the skill set to write quality songs, then just find something else to do or change the name of the band, don’t run down the legend that you worked so hard to build up.
