Jackyl – Best In Show – Mighty Loud

By Jeffrey Easton

Has it really been 20 years since Jackyl hit the streets with their S/T and the uproar that surrounded it?  Well, here it is 2012 and Jesse and company have not lost an ounce of fire.  Jackyl have survived every trend since they dropped on the scene and continue to gain new fans with the fireballs they dish out.  Best In Show may be one of their best albums to date and it shows that Jesse still has a dirty mind and they can still grind like the kids they were in 92. The title track,  Best in Show, is a raucous thumper, best opening cut to date, a great show of force to grab you by the neck on first note.  The dirty side of Jesse’s brain rears its ugly head with the cuts Better Than Chicken and Screwdriver as well as the sinister Favorite Sin.  Favorite Sin burns through you like a hot knife while displaying the most convincing vocal Jesse has yet to deliver, this better be part of the new set list.  The anthem is present to with the full throttle Horns Up, just a filthy cut that only Jackyl can seemingly do.  Jackyl continue to dominate the hard rock market and Best In Show is another notch to prove that point.
