Candlebox are survivors. They scored huge with hits in the grunge era, ducked away when it wasn’t their time anymore and came back in a big way the massive Into The Sun and here we are with their most definitive record to date, Love Stories & Other Musings. Love Stories packs a massive punch, which is what they are best at, with Youth In Revolt, Lifelike Song and Believe In It. By kicking off with Youth In Revolt, they shake the most passive listener out of their musical funk and gives them some Rock N Roll hope. This is driving music at the heart and is possibly their best recording to date. They also show the softer side by churning out mood music with Them Eyes, baby Love Me and She Come Over Me amongst other love ridden hit singles infesting the record. The tip of the iceberg is the rerecording’s they give the new fans who are just checking out Candlebox for the first time and that’s stalwart hits Far Behind and You along with the excellent Cover Me, Change and Simple Lessons. The new rendition of Far Behind is not far off from the original but with new blood it comes off sounding fresh and never dated.
