_ Bereft – Leichenhaus – The End

By Jeffrey Easton

Charles Elliot is known for powering Abysmal Dawn to sickening depths but with Bereft he has found a new level to dive to. Take the parts of Abysmal Dawn, Graviton, National Sunday Law and Graviton and you have 2012’s first underground super group, Bereft. Bereft’s debut, Leichenhaus, is disturbing to say the least.  Imagine scapes of clinical despair chilling enough to leave you in a corner holding yourself wondering what you just heard.  The cold, dreaded vocals of Mr. Elliot combines well with the music being churned out by his guitar foil Sacha Dunable along with Derek Rydquist and Derek Donley killing the rhythm section and I mean Churned.  The slow grind brings doom to a new height, a true gem for fans of slow heavy music.  The lyrics are grave to speak the least, morbid visions of pure bleakness that could only come from these four guys. Read the lyrics and feel them in the vocals, feel the pain and outright displeasure being belted out, it will move you. This is a top 10 metal record for 2012, worth every sickening minute it will take out of your life.
