Recording your songs, especially if you were a huge band at one point in time, can be tricky. You have diehard fans that only want to hear the original version and fair weather friends who could not tell the difference if they tried. I know some bands do it for the money but I can’t understand why the Scorpions retackled their biggest tracks for a rerecord. Here with Comeblack they have rerecorded No One Like You, Rock You Like A Hurricane, Wind Of Change, Still Loving You etc etc, songs that have been on countless Hits Collections and for what reasons? One more hit for the bank accounts before you go off into retirement? I loved Sting In The Tail and it was a hit record so they are still relevant so why do this? They do cover a few classic and not so classic songs like Ruby Tuesday and the questionable Tainted Love but even with that, why bother, you’re the Scorpions, your legacy proceeds itself. If this was a cash in, hey, go for it, put a few more bucks in the pocket but if you were going to go through the trouble why not just shoot out another studio record?
