_ Slash – Made In Stoke 24/7/11 – Armoury

By Jeffrey Easton

Slash is the ultimate guitarist for our times.  Slagging of the G n’ R past to keep rising up through the rock royalty, he has dealt another hard blow to the rock world with the release of his first live record.  Made In Stoke shows him and his band in full throttle mode, plowing through an amazing set of aforementioned G n’R standards, Slash’s Snakepit, Velvet Revolver and other solo necessities.  Myles Kennedy, massive throated singer of Alter Bridge, does the vocal diligence here and fully delivers the performance of a lifetime.  Close your eyes, Myles easily transfers the G n’ R mythology to himself as he belts out the likes of Civil War, Nightrain, Mr. Brownstone and Paradise City amongst others.  Notable Slash tracks like Back From Cali, By The Sword and Beggers & Hangers On were brought to light in just as an abrasive manner as the band swung through Slash’s massive catalog.  This double live CD will be the live album of the year, the band was up for it and by having Myles out in front it was the proverbial icing on the cake.
