The Birthday Massacre - Imaginary Monsters
The Birthday Massacre – Imaginary Monsters – Metropolis
By Jeffrey Easton
Last year Pins & Needles was released to acclaim and much fan fair from their fans, their best LP to date but they were not finished, there was more material and with Imaginary Monsters we have the bookend needed. There are three new tracks as well as five new remixes on Imaginary Monsters and it is a deliciously scary entrance to the senses for their followers. The three new tracks were left from the P&N sessions, some amazing material that was not completed in time but to the fans relief they were because they are stunning pieces of work. Forever is a dark keyboard laden piece of Goth inspired melancholy whereas Burn Away is a guitar riff drenched scorcher that will find your hands on the volume. Chibi’s vocals are as breath taking as ever and Rainbow and Michaels programing and riffs take the songs to amazing levels. The remixes are stellar as well with the likes of Combichrist attacking Shallow Grave and Skold amping up Pins & Needles. A true fan will own this but if dark, moody music is your need then this is your fix.
