Cavalera Conspiracy - The Glasshouse Pomona, CA 11/11

By Jeffrey Easton

It’s rare that pure titans in metal come along and it’s rarer that they last as long as Max and Igor Cavalera have.  With the longevity of Max, whether it was Sepultua, is Soulfly or Cavalera Conspiracy, he has always delivered the brutal goods and tonight it was no exception.  Cavalera Conspiracy, containing Igor Cavalera bashing alongside his brother as well as Marc Rizzo and Johnny Chow, brought pure destruction to the Glasshouse’s stage.  After the eerie intro, they blasted into Warlord from the Blunt Force Trauma release and the floor became a raging torrent of bodies.   The musical mayhem was kept at 11 with the massive tracks Black Ark, Inflikted, Terrorize and Sanctuary, all from the nasty debut, Inflikted.  Cavalera Conspiracy’s two records are as heavy and brutal as can be and to hear them played out live adds a new depth to them.  Again Blunt Force Trauma is the new disc and I Speak Hate as well as Killing Inside was burned into the audience as they screamed for more.  One of my first brutally heavy shows ever was Sepultura on the Chaos AD tour so that band still burns in my blood so to hear that stuff once again moved me like nothing else will.  Troops Of Doom, Arise/Dead Embryonic Cells, Refuse Resist, Roots Bloody Roots and Territory were played with manic furor as only Max and Company can.   Max still sounds amazing belting that material out and it never gets old.   This show stood up with anything I have seen this year, they absolutely destroyed the Glasshouse..
