Black Stone Cherry – Thank You – Eagle Vision

By Jeffrey Easton

For a decade now Black Stone Cherry has been carrying the flag of great American homegrown hard rock with four amazing studio albums and finally we are getting a massive live set with a sickening DVD to show you where their true firepower lies.  If you have yet to see Black Stone Cherry live you are missing out on a bombastic rock n roll show that pulls out all the stops.  It also helps that they are from the south which is home to some of the most legendary live bands to ever grace the rock landscape and they carry that torch proudly.  With Thank You, they were caught live on the Magic Mountain tour at the LG Arena in the UK and they were on FIRE as they blazed through a 20 track set that caught some of their biggest cuts of hard rock to date.   The set opened with the massive Rain Wizard and the band was immediately on all eight cylinders.  Chris Robertson had command of the crowd from the first note and had them at the bands behest throughout the show.  Collaborating with Ben Wells to make a solid guitar duo has been their hallmark and in the live setting its second to none and tonight it was no different.  As they plowed through Blind Man, Maybe Someday, Such A Shame as well as Hollywood In Kentucky and the show closer Lonely Train the guitars were intense, as if tonight all the stars lined up for THAT show. Backing the guitar attack is the incredible John Fred Young on Drums and Jon Lawhon on bass, the massive thunder you feel when you crank this past ten.  To accent this amazing live album is a DVD of the show as well which SHOWS you the intensity of what they deliver on stage as well as a great interview and a few tracks from the Download Festival. If you were chomping at the bit for something new from BSC while waiting on their next studio album then this is a MUST OWN DVD/CD and you Will go buy it!
