Memphis May Fire – Ace Of Spades – Sacramento CA 2/15

By Jeffrey Easton

Memphis May Fire could possibly be referred to as the musical saviors to the socially downtrodden.  Their songs of hope reek of positivity and in the live setting Matty Mullins verbalizes his uplifting words to the throngs that pack their shows.  Still out on tour with their Rise Records release Unconditional, they are bringing a vicious attack live that is almost matched by the volume coming from their fans.  Unconditional is an amazing album that is nonstop aggression from one of the best bands out there. As soon as the lights dropped for MMF the fans were lit up with screaming and hands in the air for their arrival. MMF went right into their title track of their new album and the crowd sang every word of Unconditional right back to them.  Sensing the strength of Unconditional they served up Beneath The Skin as well as The Rose and Ace Of Spades roared its approval.  Kicking back into the past they fired up material from Challenger as well with the massive tracks Alive In The Lights as well as Prove me Right and Vices.  Matty slowed it down to sing a heartfelt tribute to his wife with the emotional track Miles Away and the girls in the crowd felt every word he sang as if it were for them.  The  band was never so tight like they were at Ace with Kellen and Anthony trading off massive riffs that bounced perfectly off of Austin and Jeremy’s rhythm assault.  They did touch on The Hollow with The Sinner which is just pure adrenalin packed in a song.  Closing out their deafening set was Legacy from Challenger and the crowd was on fire for them to the end. Their set was intense and Matty took time to thank the fans for being there and continuously tell them that they are somebody and that they are loved and in today’s environment that is nothing but welcome.  If you have yet to witness the power of Memphis May Fire live your life is not complete.
